I am interested in exploring environments and how I and other people perceive the world. While traveling, I often feel as if I don't exist anymore, that the world and my personality are just constructs, with nature being the only realm which is not a concept. I am constantly questioning our cultures and environments, and how people interact in them. Through this project I would like to create an installation based on a lost identity in a manufactured world. I question our ability to observe our own identity. Are we capable of stepping back and see how we really function in our environments? A structure built out of cardboard is situated in the room for the viewer to enter. The surrounding area is constructed of recycled and industrial materials based on the natural environment. Navigating the installation, the viewer will explore the artificial domain which I have created. Once the viewer has entered the structure, they can sit down or stand. Each room is meant as a place to observe and escape all thoughts, to be able to look out and contemplate what is real and what is artificial in us and our environments.
